King Lear
DARK FOREST THEATRE PRESENTS
A tale of madness
'Blow winds and crack your cheeks! Rage, blow, You cataracts and hurricanoes.'
An ageing king divides his kingdom among his three daughter and thus a family begins to devour itself from within. As loyalty turns to betrayal and ambition curdles into cruelty, fathers abandon children, children destroy parents, and madness spreads like rot through the kingdom.
In a world where love is weaponised and power corrupts absolutely; blindness becomes more than metaphor and the storm outside is nothing compared to the one raging within.
As families fracture and the dead begin to pile at their feet, King Lear becomes a gothic meditation on pride, grief, ageing, and the terrifying consequences of mistaking obedience for love.
Because nothing is more monstrous than a family at war with itself.
